Skyworth Increases Efforts on 3D TV Development

The Ministry of Information and Industry (hereinafter referred to as "MIIT") AVS (Audio Video Standard) working team announced the first 3D TV coding and decoding standard in China has finalized. The standard has been submitted to MIIT and SAC for examining and approving.

The Secretary General of MIIT AVS team Mr. Huang Tiejun introduced that the AVS launched by MIIT is China’s first 3D TV system which owns complete intellectual property.

At the beginning of this year the 3D movie “Avatar” changed the world’s display industry. 3D age has come into being. Till now, Skyworth and other TV brands has promoted their 3D TVs to the Chinese market. The new round competition is coming.

Skyworth launched its multimedia Coocaa 3D-LED E90RD series on March 10th. The E90RD series covers 42 to 55 inch. 3D LED will take place of LCD TVs in the future.

It is understood the consumers had a good reflection on Coocaa 3D TV. But because of the limitation of contents, only a small amount of 3D TV products are promoted to the market. The subsidiary company of Skyworth Coocaa net plans to cooperate with more internet content provider to meet the requirements of consumers.

Many domestic TV manufacturers have successfully launched 3D TV. But because there’s not enough 3D content, it’s not a right time to put into mass production. The Press Spokesman of Skyworth Group Mr. Shen Jian said: “To promote the National 3D standard before the 3D industry’s booming is helpful for manufacturers to build the industrial platform. The release of the standard is really in time.”

As the first manufacturer launched 3D TV, Skyworth has its own advantages. Firstly, Skyworth took 3 years to build a multimedia entertainment “Coocaa Mode”. Coocaa 3D TV based on 240Hz-3D engine. It is a multimedia entertainment television which accomplishes 3D decode on LED backlight television platform. Secondly, Skyworth consistently invests in R&D to rapidly mix “Coocaa Mode” and “3D-LED” together.

The Assistant Dean of Skyworth R&D institute Mr. Li Haiying said:”The finalization of 3D TV standard will reduce the technological risk by standardize the format of 3D television and 3D content. It’ll also encourage the upstream panel supplier to invest more to improve the technology and to decrease the cost of panel which will help the 3D market to develop healthily. It’s also a good news for Skyworth to sell its Coocaa 3D TVs.”
