Skyworth First Launches 19 Brand New Models of National Standard Digital TV Products

          Skyworth Digital Holdings Limited(“Skyworth” or the “Group”)(HKEX stock code: 0751) today proudly announced theGroup pioneered the launch of a brand new series of digital terminal productscomplying with the “National Standard for Digital Television Terrestrial Transmission”(“DTVTT Standard”). This new series comprises 19 products, including a 42-inch “DTVTT
Standard Integrated Digital TV”, 11 models of 3.5-inch, 5.7-inch and 7-inch“DTVTT Portable Mobile TV”, 4 models of “DTVTT Standard Digital UTB”, and 3 models of“DTVTT Standard Terrestrial Digital Set Top Box (DMB-T)”. It is expected that the new products will be available in the market this year.


          Mr. Wang Dianfu, Executive Chairman of Skyworth said, “Following the
release of the ‘DTVTT Standard’, Skyworth has accordingly adjusted its research and development plan to concentrate on the development of digital TV products that comply with the ‘DTVTT Standard’. This new series has enabled Skyworth to stay ahead half or even one year earlier than our counterparts in digital TV market.Meanwhile, we are confident in seizing the emerging market opportunities arisen this year and before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.”Among the new digital TV products, “DTVTT Standard Integrated Digital TV”does not require any set top box. Users can watch both cable and terrestrial TV programmes by switching the channels to receive DMB-T digital signals. “DTVTT Standard Portable Mobile TV”, with combined functions of LCD TV and MP4, allows users to watch TV anywhere at anytime. “DTVTT Standard Digital UTB” has obtained various patents. One of them is it can convert a computer into a recordable TV. Users only need to plug UTB into the USB port of a computer and turn on a specialized player, different regional digital TV programmes will be automatically searched and played on the monitor. In addition, pre-schedule recording is supported. “DTVTT Standard Terrestrial Digital Set Top Box” enables users to watch DMB-T digital TV programmes by simply connecting an ordinary TV to the signal input.

         China announced the “DTVTT standard” on 30 August 2006. It will be put into effect from 1 August 2007 onwards. The concerned government department has mapped out that digital TV will be widely used since 2008 in large and 2-tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and China will completely turn to digital broadcasting in 2015. Among over 400 million TV households in China, about 300 million of them will become the major user group of digital terrestrial TV. According to the forecast of CCID Consulting, market size of China’s digital TV market will increase from RMB40 billion to RMB500 billion from 2002 to 2015, revealing the enormous business opportunities in China’s digital TV market. “Digital TV that complies with ‘DTVTT standard’ will become increasingly popular in China. As a leading TV manufacturer, Skyworth will seize this business opportunity in order to strengthen our market position and competitive edges in China TV market. We anticipate that national brands will be able to compete with foreign brands in the digital TV market, and will even surpass them in technology development,” Mr. Wang concluded.
